Dancing at the Casa Loma Ballroom

February 19, 2016 - It's time to step out on to the floating floor of the historic Casa Loma ballroom.  It was originally built in 1927 and since then it has played host to some evenings with musical greats like Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Artie Shaw.

This evening, we danced to the live music provided by the 17-piece Second Generation Swing band.

We're all amateur dancers, but if you weren't totally concerned about appearance, it was fun to practice our dancing with a live band.  They played a variety of music, so by the end of the evening, I'd tried out swing dancing, the polka, waltzing, the foxtrot, the cha cha, and the shim-sham.

OCT 1955: Enchantment Under the Sea Dance

October 20, 2015 - In this post, we go back to the futu-er...last fall. If you've got your time circuits on and set to a destination time of OCT 20 1955, then it's time to get the flux capacitor fluxing!

Great Scott!  We made it just in time for the Enchantment Under the Sea dance...

Time for some music to set the mood...

Redbirds, Chicago, and Snowboarding

February 4-7, 2016 - Over the weekend, I drove up to Chicago with friends.  I woefully neglected to take many photos, which makes it very difficult to craft this post into an engaging narrative.

All packed up for my trip into Chicago Cubs territory.

I'd call this a pretty aggressive storefront choice

So, my best baseball conversation was with a gas station attendant - who conceded that the Cards would probably win the division.

On Saturday morning we drove up to Wisconsin (first time to WI!) to go snowboarding (first time snowboarding!) at Cascade Mountain.
