We spent today skim boarding once again. Actually, Benjamin and Noah did most of the skimming today. Skim boarding is a pretty strenuous exercise, so we’re always ready to hit the sack at night.
If you’re interested in details, here’s a quick explanation on what to do to skim board:
First, you wait for the water along the shore to be only a few inches deep, then you bend down and toss the board in the water, and then chase after it.
Once you’ve caught up with it, you have to jump onto the board-but you have to land with both feet at the same time and you have to balance your weight evenly.
From there on, it’s all about balance. While riding, making slight adjustments-like maybe leaning a little forward if your tail is hitting the sand or placing more weight on your back foot so the nose of the board can go over the next wave will be necessary. We’ve been trying to do a few simple tricks like a 360. This requires you to twist your entire body, while maintaining your balance.
After you jump off (or fall off) the board you bend over and pull it out of the sand….repeat from the top!
Here are just a few random shots from today. Nearer the bottom, you'll find
action shots that I took of my brothers.
Only in Florida can you find a manatee mailbox
We did some sightseeing which included a drive along Front Beach Road
You can see high-rises in the distance:
