Paper Faces on Parade!

May 25, 2015 -

-Cue music-

What a splendid party...the prelude to a bright new year...

...quite a night, I'm impressed...

...Well, one does one's best.

Here's to us!

A toast for the city!

Masquerade!

Paper faces on parade

Masquerade!

Every face a different shade

Masquerade!

Look around, there's another mask behind you.

Grinning yellows, spinning reds

Flash of mauve < - don't know what that is

Splash of puce < - or that (pardon my ignorance.)

Faces!

After that little musical introduction
("Masquerade" from "The Phantom of the Opera")
[Oh, and this isn't an endorsement of the play or the film
- I've never seen either.  I just couldn't pass up this song.]

I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of these portraits from
the ball on your own and will spare you my lyrical commentary.

Obviously, I could take the time to actually pair the photos up with the lyrics of the song,
but that'd be just a bit too meticulous even for me.
Plus, I'd have to spend time to look up the definitions for

 mauve,
(pale purple)

and puce.
(a dark red or purple brown color, a brownish purple or a dark reddish brown)

Anyway, enjoy the photos and all the costumes, "but who can name the face?"
