This evening we picked up a table set that we found on Craigslist. It was exactly what Mom was looking for and it included 8 chairs and a bench. She’s pretty excited about what she’s been able to find on Craigslist-we got this set for about 1/3 of the original price and it’s only 4 years old.
It’s fantastic to have a real dining table to eat at after using our outdoor patio furniture for the past 9 months. This family table is really an heirloom piece and was hand crafted in England.
Today we pretty much did a complete transformation of my room. In the pictures above you can see how my office area used to look. We got this desk from a neighbor who was didn’t need it and a couple of things were broken on it. Mom found a nice desk off of Craigslist and we hauled it home in the trailer a couple of days ago.
I worked on unplugging everything and taking out the desk.
Getting the desk and hutch down the hallway and into my room was a bit tricky. We had to take measurements, take off my door and turn the desk around a few times before we got it into my room. The easy thing to do would have been to obviously take off the hutch but it was fastened using dowels and we were trying to avoid cutting them at all costs. Mom had me take a picture of how the way we got the desk into my room for future reference when we’ll have to take it back out!
I am really excited about how much more workspace I’ll have not to mention how much nicer the desk looks and the new storage space!
I got all of my many device plugged in and got the wires organized some. The printer now has it’s own space and I can keep my folders in my desk instead of the plastic box. Compare these pictures with those above.

We also got some picture frames fastened to the walls, so now I need to order some prints to put in them!
A new bedding set is on the way and will be here soon.
The new layout makes the room look a lot larger than it used to and now the room is very functional for me and my business(es.) I’ll now have the room to bring clients into my room and work with them on the computer. I am particularly excited about the loft bed and the desk!

We’ve been making progress since I have last posted though, we’ve had to take a little break of a few days to finally do some Christmas shopping, which, thankfully, we were able to do almost entirely online. It’s been awhile since I have posted, but I’ll just publish a few photos in non-chronological order.
Mom has been working on the trim at least a little bit each day and on Monday we got the bookcases moved into the living room. The miter saw is still in the living room, but it’ll only be a few hours more of work before we’re finished with the trim and can start decorating in preparation for our party on Saturday.
Glenn had to totally redo the electrical in the kitchen and hallway, but not we have light and we also replaced the fixture in the kitchen with one that was brushed-nickel to match the other hardware in the house. Wow, the photos I took of the light turned out pretty cool!
The venetian plaster in the back bathroom has been sealed and is now finished. Venetian plaster takes a lot of extra work and time because it requires a lot of different coats and you have to wait for each coat to dry. However, thanks to the extra effort venetian plaster looks fantastic and we may end up using it in a couple of other rooms.
One of our biggest priorities now is to get the hallway bathroom semi-functional for our guests. We’ll paint the walls in the bathroom with the same paint we used in the laundry room, you can see a sample of the color in the above picture.
The original water line had rotted and we also had to replace the water filter. The fridge had been delivered exactly 363 days ago, so at least we can say that we got the water system hooked up in less than a year!

Well, now I’ve (reluctantly) have to get ready for a ballet performance of the Nutcracker that we’ll be attending tonight…should be interesting…
This Saturday we got accomplished quite a lot it one day!
Benjamin and Noah stripped out the back bathroom before we left for Florida and Noah scraped off some of the paint.
As you can see the living room was a wreck and I thought it’d take us a few days to get everything moved out.
However, after a few hours we had all of the bookcases out and had moved them into Benjamin’s room.
The boxes were easily moved out and all of that was left were a few odds and ends.
After getting the living room and kitchen in order we worked on putting the new subfloor into the bathroom.
We brought in a few tiles from one of the pallets outside on the driveway so we could get an idea of what the flooring will look like:
The tile is going to be arranged in a brick pattern like the picture above.
For Thanksgiving we visited the Brewer family who hospitably invited us to celebrate Thanksgiving with them. We had a fantastic time! In fact I was having such a great time I didn’t take very many photos for more photos from Thanksgiving go to the Brewer Farm Blog.
We saw some coyotes during breakfast and Benjamin took a shot at three of them.
He hit one of them because he saw it jump when he fired, but when we looked for the coyote we couldn’t find him.
It was a three and a half hour drive to our house the Brewer’s place. It’s been 3 months since I have driven but I drove 80 miles of the way. The highway was so straight and flat it was very easy. When we got home we saw that the supplies for the floor had already been delivered. Everything is ready for the installers arrival on Monday: tile, mortar, grout and sealant.
We have our work cut out for us this weekend. We have to get the living room, kitchen, hallway bathroom, laundry room/pantry and hallway completely empty. We also have to replace the sub floor in the bathroom.

Moving the refrigerator was quite a task that required all 5 of us.
It wouldn’t fit through the front door without taking it off. It was a pretty tight fit and we had to be careful so that we didn’t scrape paint off of the refrigerator.
So after moving the stove, washer, dryer and the refrigerator all that we had left was the sleeper sofa. Moving the couch was a breeze. Tomorrow we’ll have to move everything else that didn’t get moved last night which is mainly comprised of a lot of little things that we haven’t used in a long time and don’t know what to do with 
Tonight Noah found an opossum in the barn and Benjamin shot it:
