GTC Photo Featured on HunterEdCourse.com

Last week I was asked if one of our photos could be used by HunterEdCourse.com and this past weekend it was featured on their website blog and sent out to their newsletter subscribers:

squirrelhunting

You can check out the blog post here: Squirrel Hunting Tips for First Hunt After Hunter Education

While you’re on their website, check out their web course that will help you prepare for and earn your hunter’s education test completion certificate.

This photo was taken on a squirrel hunt while visiting friends in Southern Missouri:

Your Help Is Needed!

questionnaire-2

We are asking for the input of our friends and readers by taking this quick survey about English Country Dancing.  I’ve edited close to 90 dances from events and lessons, but I’d like to create more instructional and professional videos in the future. If you’ve enjoyed some of these dancing videos then please participate in this survey and share it with your friends – or even post in on your blog! (see below)

The survey is only 10–30 questions and only takes 5 minutes to complete:

Lydia’s [So Big] 3rd Birthday!

I’ve decorated the blog to celebrate Lydia’s 3rd birthday!  We call Lydia by the many names used in the background.

Lydia has brought a lot of joy into our family during the past few years and she’s been a fantastic…dog?

She only weighed 2 pounds.

Gideon & Lydia made friends (despite the 78 pounds of differences from one another.)  IMG_9706

This photo was taken just 4 days after we brought Lydia home, but they were already exchanging secrets.

And there are many, many more photos.  Between everyone’s cameras I’m sure I could come up with 1033 photos to represent each day we’ve had Lydia!

Updates

Well, I haven’t updated this blog for a couple of weeks and it is no coincidence that the last post was entitled “Crunch Time.”  I’ve been spending quite a portion of my time working on the video project, but I’ve been able to spend more time getting involved in family activities.

We’ve been up to a few things, but the scorching heat has slowed us down.  I‘m pretty sure it’s been weeks since we’ve had the heat index be in the double digits and we’re also very much in need of rain.  There’ve been 3 rainstorms that passed through our area, but our house only got little to no rain.

All that to say that I’ll be retro-actively posting a few updates over the next few days.

New Blog Design

I have just changed the appearance of this blog to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War and this year’s CHEF Conference.

The header picture was taken in our Civil War outfits before a Civil War Ball that we attended in June.

The former design was from our trip to Florida last November:

New Blog Record….Post-A-Day

There are 30 posts for the month of November 2010 which establishes a new record for the GTC Blog.

One reason why I have been posting so frequently is I’ve downloaded the Windows Live Tools which included the ultra-handy Windows Live Writer. I can just drag and drop photos from my computer, type in some text, add a video to YouTube and publish the post-all without having to sign in or open up a web browser. At this point the steps to adding more content to the blog is very streamlined.

Another reason why I’ve been posting so often is because I finally purchased a new digital camera! I had lost my old camera a few months ago and had to borrow my brother’s camera to take photos. This new camera is also quite an upgrade compared to my $85-$115 I used for the past few years. It is a Canon Powershot SX130IS and is known as a power-zoom camera with a 12x optical zoom. I really like the size of it because I carry it in my pocket 95% of the time we leave the house.

Anyways, thank you to everyone who follows this blog-it kind of surprises me that anyone would actually care what we do day-by-day, but the main purpose for this blog isn’t for the public to read anyways. The reason why we have a family blog is for us to have a journal of what our family has done and been through.

New Blog Design

We’ve been meaning to create a new header for this blog for quite some time now and today it finally happened. We actually ended up making the website fresh with a different color scheme.
