Paper Faces on Parade!

May 25, 2015 -

-Cue music-

What a splendid party...the prelude to a bright new year...

...quite a night, I'm impressed...

...Well, one does one's best.

Here's to us!

A toast for the city!

Masquerade!

Paper faces on parade

Masquerade!

Every face a different shade

Masquerade!

Look around, there's another mask behind you.

Grinning yellows, spinning reds

Flash of mauve < - don't know what that is

Splash of puce < - or that (pardon my ignorance.)

Faces!

After that little musical introduction
("Masquerade" from "The Phantom of the Opera")
[Oh, and this isn't an endorsement of the play or the film
- I've never seen either.  I just couldn't pass up this song.]

I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of these portraits from
the ball on your own and will spare you my lyrical commentary.

Obviously, I could take the time to actually pair the photos up with the lyrics of the song,
but that'd be just a bit too meticulous even for me.
Plus, I'd have to spend time to look up the definitions for

 mauve,
(pale purple)

and puce.
(a dark red or purple brown color, a brownish purple or a dark reddish brown)

Anyway, enjoy the photos and all the costumes, "but who can name the face?"

FCM Conference 2015

May 5, 2015 - Wow, this is a long time coming...better a month late than never I suppose?

Family pic after dinner

I scream!  No, I really almost do when it comes to ice cream!
This little mid-break snack was melting all over me.

Random.  Granted.
But it's not everyday that you see Bruce Wayne out for a drive.

There are always good times waiting in the lobby of the hotel during conferences.

This place has holds some great memories from over the past 7 years:

2010

2012

Chatting with friends and solving the world's problems.

Time for Dutch Blitz!  This card game is a bit of an annual tradition.

This has got to be the biggest game of Dutch Blitz I've ever played.  There were close to a dozen people (in teams.)  As if Dutch Blitz wasn't crazy enough.

Silver Dollar City

May 26, 2015 - Thank you very much to the Jones family for getting these photos while we were at the park!  I brought my camera, but not the SD card, so this visit was grossly undocumented on my part.

Welcome to Silver Dollar City

Almost feel bad for kicking a poor girl and an old guy out of the way so we could get this photograph.
Almost.

We three kings of Orient are...

Checking out Powder Keg before we get in line...

...and only the very brave few still got on the ride!  Oh, brave and also patient.  There was a 45 minute line.

I wish that my face before we blasted off at 50-something mph had been captured! :)  Let your imagination go wild.

The guys.
Properly spaced and positioned so that none of us are touching.  And so that I look short.

The ladies on the other hand...

...didn't get the memo about the no contact thing. ;)

Masquerade Ball - Dance Videos

Portraits - Coming soon

These dance videos are from the Masquerade Ball at the Savoy Ballroom in Springfield, MO.  The evening was incredibly delightful, and the venue was gorgeous! The dances were called by Melanie Thomas and were filmed on May 25, 2015.  Enjoy!
Oh, and there's a video of a "new" dance.  We tried dancing "The Last Dance" from Emma (2009) for the first time at the ball.
The videos are embedded individually below from the Stately Steps YouTube channel, and if it's any easier, here is a playlist of all the dances from the masquerade.
