Kate Spills the Beans!

Ever since last our Florida trip last November Kate has been telling us that we’d be going on a mystery vacation…she’s great at surprises.  While in Florida we wrote down a list of activities (i.e. swimming, going to a museum, horseback riding, parachuting, etc.) and then each person rated each activity on a scale from 1 to 5.  Then, we totaled up the ratings on each activity to find the things that we all liked.  Kate took this list and found a place that offered the highest scoring activities.

For months now she’s been working on planning this vacation and keeps on telling us that we’re going to have a blast and that she’s planned for us to be at a spa every single day for facials, massages and pedicures.

Well, when Kate does a surprise she creates a puzzle that has to be solved before the surprise has been revealed.   One night she set out these cards on the table and my brothers and I had to play a game of flipping them over and matching two of them together.

Noah got two sets, I only got one and Benjamin took home all of the rest.

The back of each card corresponded with one of the activities we were going to do on the trip.  So once the entire puzzle was solved, the three of us separated.   For each set of cards we had Kate had a card showing what activity the picture represented.  Then the three of us had to tell everyone what activity we had discovered.

In this process we learned that we were going to Montague, MI which is along Lake Michigan and we learned WHEN we’d be leaving as well.

The trip will certainly be a lot of fun and we all can’t wait!

Lydia Having Her Nightly Chew

Lydia has a habit of having a chew on a rawhide at night before she goes to bed-almost like an after dinner pipe.  She’s pretty addicted at this now and is quite the chain-chewer.

Note how she sniffs it at the beginning and again at the end.

For All of Your Revolutionary Ideas…

Thought that this Microsoft Word 2010 commercial was pretty cute,  the Windows Live chatting is really great!  You’ll have to stay on your toes and read quickly to watch this video.

Week Goes to the Dogs!

IMG_3178This week we watched my Aunt & Uncle’s Italian greyhounds while they were out of town.  Italian greyhounds look really neat-they’re very tall and thin, but much smaller that regular greyhounds and their long legs make them look like fawns.  My aunt and uncle breed them.

What was really funny is how much like a pack the dogs were.  They absolutely couldn’t stand to be separated for any amount of time and they would almost always do everything at the same time.  Fall asleep in the kennel, wake up, look at something-they’d do it in pack synchronization.

The greyhounds names are Bella, Israel, Jasmine, and Eve.  I had wanted to do a good ole’ fox hunt while we had all of these hounds laying around, but my wish never came true.  View halloo!

Updates

Well, I haven’t updated this blog for a couple of weeks and it is no coincidence that the last post was entitled “Crunch Time.”  I’ve been spending quite a portion of my time working on the video project, but I’ve been able to spend more time getting involved in family activities.

We’ve been up to a few things, but the scorching heat has slowed us down.  I‘m pretty sure it’s been weeks since we’ve had the heat index be in the double digits and we’re also very much in need of rain.  There’ve been 3 rainstorms that passed through our area, but our house only got little to no rain.

All that to say that I’ll be retro-actively posting a few updates over the next few days.

BIG Burrito

so wimpy enchilada

I was pretty happy with my measly little enchilada and quesadilla until they brought Benjamin’s order out to the table.

Needless to say we brought some of the burrito home in a to go box.

Crunch Time

my computer

Wow, what a week I have had!  I am working on a video project with Mr. Dan Ford about Liberty & Property (based off of his book of the same name.)  The project really began only 3 weeks ago and we’ve been pretty busy since then, but this week was really “crunch time” and we had to get a large amount of the project finished by this Monday.

Mr. Ford, apart from being an historian and author is also quite the artist and graphic designer.  It had been an honor working alongside him this week as we exchanged ideas, Photoshop documents and video previews with one another.

Now that I am nearing the end of this week I am trying to get a grasp on what I did and didn’t do this week.  I did at least 12 hours of work each day.  I didn’t leave the house since we visited the Brewer family.  The kicker is that I haven’t been outside at all except to take out the dog and that was on Tuesday!

This is probably just my baptism into the world of media and deadlines, but I think that after Monday when we can work at a slower pace, I’ll try to jump on the trampoline while I have something rendering. (That’d be one nice thing about having a slower computer…if rendering ties up the whole computer you may as well take a break.)

Well, I better take a step outside now before I forget what the sun looks like.  Have a restful weekend all!
