Lion Safari (Video)-Throwback Thursday

Ben and I made this hunting video parody way back in 2008 in our backyard.  After making a couple of similar spoofs we actually filmed several “GTC Outdoors” videos that featured real hunting/fishing.

Jerry Lartin is a subtle spoof from one of the personalities in Bass Pro Shops hunting videos, Jerry Martin (see him in the video below.)  The Okavango Delta is a real place in Botswana that features a large game preserve.

The bloopers at the end kind of poked fun at some things you usually won’t see in perfectly-edited hunting shows.  (Such as leaving a gun on safety, missing a shot, or your cameraman falling down.)

The dog/lion was Gideon – our golden retriever who died in 2010.

Six Skunks Shot

July 16, 2014 – My brothers have been asked by neighbors to get rid of some of the skunk population, because they’ve been pestering their animals.  Tonight they did just that!

By the way…don't think that you can get ever get THAT close to SO MANY skunks without having some major olfactory complications...and possibly never let indoors again.

An Independence Day “Ship’s Cook”(Video)

July 4th, 2014 -  I know that many of you have enjoyed the nearly-90 dancing videos that I’ve posted on this blog over the years…so I hope you enjoy the one below!

Unfortunately, my camera didn’t capture some of the guys doing some epic breakdancing “helicopters” off-screen during the gentleman’s “turn.”

Bike Ride (Video)

March 8, 2013 – This afternoon we took a bike ride with [most of] the Martin family.

Lydia couldn’t miss the fun!
She has a little “basket”that can attach to the bike, so she can come along.  We made the mistake of trying out the basket on the front of the handlebars instead of attaching behind the seat.  All of the back-and-forth motion of the handlebars made her sick halfway through the ride!

Grant’s Trail passes Grant’s Farm and the Budweiser Clydesdales

We saw a few door alongside one of the trails
There’s a little area with bike jumps and ramps…check out the video below to see more.

Okay, we’re certainly not BMX bikers, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have fun!

Yet another photo of Bryce and Noah together….try to spot pictures of these two in other posts.

Independence Day Celebration

July 4, 2014 – Today is the 238th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
(Some of you enlightened ones may stop reading this post if I’ve already made a factual error within the very first sentence.  So, for you people I’ll add this disclaimer:)
July 4th, 2014
The 238th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
Some friends organized a special Independence Day celebration and picnic at a local park.

The festivities began with a fife and drum rendering of colonial tunes.
Yes, photos of people playing music is BORING.
That’s why you’ll find a video at the end of this post…very soon!

Yay!  A picture of me!
This is a great opportunity to quickly mention that during the presentation that my right and left legs were alternating between the sensations of ‘falling asleep’ and ‘pins and needles.’
I'm sure that the founding fathers made similar sacrifices when they manned the sound booth.
Enough of me, let's move on:

The decorations were fantastic and there were probably close to a couple of dozen revolutionary-era flags hanging in the tree tops.

The unfolding and raising of the flag

A cymbal from a colonial-period drum set

Yes, he has THE original Declaration of Independence!

Okay, maybe not…I think that Nicolas Cage already stole it from the national archives.

BUT, I can tell you, that there are times when I talk with Mr. Ford, when I wouldn’t be surprised if he DID have the original!

“An Appeal to Heaven!”

My cousin, Isaiah, looking as dapper as ever!

Just too cute for words….

[Video will be here…when I have the time to edit and upload some of the footage]
