Installing the Cement Board

The Lowe’s Installers are at our place now and have ripped out the carpet and padding already. They’re making the cuts for the backer board now.

My brothers worked on fixing squeaks in the sub floor by drilling some screws into the joist.

Benjamin made the pilot holes and in this picture Noah is toe-nailing in the screw into the joist.

One of the most abnoxious squeaks in the floor wouldn’t stop no matter how many 4” screws we drilled in. We took a look at the joist from the basement and we’ll have to support the joist from below.

Just to be sure the squeaks were all out we drilled in screws in the entire living room. My brothers and I each used a drill and got pretty quick at screwing them in-we had the job done in no time at all. We at least added 1 screw for every nail that' was holding down the plywood.

By the end of the day the installers had cut the concrete board to fit the floor. Tomorrow they’ll glue down the concrete board and will also nail to to the sub floor.
